Center for Research and Innovation in Technology-Enhanced Learning (ITEL)

Advancing Technology Founded on Education Research

The Center for Research and Innovation in Technology-Enhanced Learning (ITEL) was established in 2025 as a campus hub for designing and investigating the impact of new technologies on learning and education in authentic contexts in K-12, higher education classrooms, and beyond. ITEL researchers investigate core mechanisms of learning in digital environments and create new educational technologies that can be field-tested in local, national, and international settings. The center aims to have a far-reaching impact in schools and various venues where learning is aided by technology.

Learning and Interactivity Research: How people learn in the context of interactive digital technologies.

Innovative Technology Design: Developing new tools that push the frontiers of technology.

Impact and Policy: Working with community and industry partners to improve the policy and practice of digital technology use.

Digital Access and Equity: Addressing the pressing issues of access to, and equitable design of, digital learning technologies.
